FIFA 14 Replaces GTA V At The Top Of The Charts

video gamesGTA V may have enjoyed the biggest release day sales ever for a console game but it has only enjoyed one week at the top. FIFA 14 has taken the top spot while GTA V slips to second and Minecraft is back into third. Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 has fallen to fourth spot while The Last Of Us dropped to fifth.

1 (-) – FIFA 14

FIFA 14 is, in some respects, worse than FIFA 13, but better in other respects. It is more realistic, with players having to choose the best time to pass and play shots according to the balance of weight on either foot. However, this realism means that the gameplay suffers somewhat and the title feels more like a simulation than an actual sporting game. Still, it ripped the number 1 spot from GTA V after only one, albeit mammoth, week.

2 (1) – GTA V

GTA V is an incredible game and enjoyed incredible success on its first day of release so it is a little surprising that it has slipped away from the top position after such a short space of time. However, it isn’t without its problems. Cars have gone missing from garages and there are a few glitches here and there. The release of GTA V Online today means that there’s a chance of increased sales again this week though.

3 (6) – Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition was something of a surprise to many people. It had already been available as a download for some time before the retail version hit shelves but it has gone on to sit in or around the top of the charts for 14 weeks now and is back up to third from last week’s 6th position.

4 (2) – Pro Evolution Soccer 2014

Pro Evolution Soccer has long been the poorer brother and the inferior alternative to FIFA games. That remains the case, although PES 2014 is a big improvement over its predecessor and FIFA 14 is, in our opinion, slightly worse than the version it is replacing so the gulf is getting smaller.

5 (3) – The Last Of Us

The Last Of Us has performed extremely well as a flag bearer for PS3 titles. It is a zombie survival horror game but rather than concentrating solely on the blood, guts, and zombies, it has incredible character and almost makes the zombie holocaust a believable event.
