With the season nearly over and a stream of managers making their way to pastures new, it seems the ideal time to take a look at the best, and possibly only real, contender for the title of best handheld console football management game (not the snappiest title, we grant you). Football Manager Handheld 2013 was released in December of last year and enables you to pit your wits against some of the finest and most respected managers in the game, and Rafa Benitzez too.
Football Manager Handheld 2013 is effectively a pared down version of the full football Manager 2013 game. It is available on iOS and Android devices and while the £6.99 price tag will put a lot of people off (it doesn’t compare well to the majority of other games and represents more than a little pocket shrapnel after all) you really do get what you pay for.
The game may be slimmed down from the original but it offers comprehensive coverage that includes more than 4,000 players in 13 different leagues, including Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for the first time. It also brings the popular Challenges addition that first graced the 2012 version and it has improved 3D graphics to offer an even better playing experience.
A number of new features are included, although you may initially be underwhelmed if you owned the previous version. Stick with it, though, and you will experience all of the benefits that come from buying one of the leading names from one of the best known and most established football management games.
