Various rumours and alleged leaks have surfaced over the LG Optimus G2 and it seems that they will either be blown out of the water or confirmed come August 7th. LG has sent out invitations to a press event stating “Great 2 have you” – a thinly veiled reference to the G2? We think so.
LG took some time over the release of the original Optimus G and the phone was really very high quality, but it was a little lacking in raw power for its time; the kind of device that made you think they’d finished it 6 months earlier but wanted to be sure before they released it. It had a good CPU and sharp screen along with some unique LG apps including the Miracast screen sharing app. However, you couldn’t expand on its storage and the camera was moderate at best.
The LG Optimus G Pro was a further improvement. It was still a little lacking in design, with a cheap plastic feel, but the screen was even better and it tore through apps, games, and activities comfortably and quickly. It also wasn’t made available in the UK!
The LG Optimus G2 will, according to the majority of rumours will have a screen larger than 5 inches and it will have a 13mp camera to match the likes of the Galaxy S4. Other mooted features include volume buttons around the back and an edge to edge display.
As is the way with rumours, it is likely that there will be some degree of truth to them. The phone will almost certainly feature at least a 5 inch screen and the addition of a 13mp camera should be considered standard for the most recent smartphone entries now. 7th August is the date that other rumours will be confirmed or denied.
