The Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet is available to pre-order at the Carphone Warehouse. The device will be available for free on a 24 month £38 Vodafone contract, more on a 4G contract.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 was unveiled last month at the Nokia World conference, and we’ve yet to really hear too much about its release here in the UK. However, that has changed, as the Carphone Warehouse has released details of the price for those consumers that are willing to go with Vodafone and take on a 24 month contract. There’s still no news on when the handset will be released, either from Carphone Warehouse or Nokia. The former say that they will be shipping the device some time in December, so it may just be available in time for Christmas.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 on Vodafone from Carphone Warehouse will be given away for free if you take out a 24 month contract, costing £38 a month. This includes unlimited texts and minutes as well as 2GB of data each month.
If you want the device on a 4G tariff, then you will have to pay a little more. For the same period, 24 months, you will have to pay £19.99 for the device itself and will cost £48. As well as the unlimited texts and minutes you will get a massive 12GB of data every month, but you will probably need it. The 4G contract includes free membership to Spotify Premium or Sky Sports mobile and they both chip away at your data allowance.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is a 6” full HD phablet that runs Windows Phone 8. It has a 2.2GHz quad core process, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The storage is further boosted by access to 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage, and you can add a microSD card with a capacity of up to 64GB. In total, this means that you can enjoy 103GB of storage, although that will require the purchase of a microSD card.
There is a 20MP rear facing camera as well as a 1.2MP wide angle front facing camera. Although no firm release date for the UK has been offered, some sources have suggested it will be available by the end of November. Perhaps a more realistic target would be a December release as we are well into November already now.
