Stephen’s Story: Teenage cancer patient raises £3m for charity as he reveals he ‘feels so, so, so good’

Stephen-SuttonThe total raised by terminally-ill teenager Stephen Sutton has now passed the £3 million mark.

The sick 19-year-old has now raised more than three times his initial target for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

News of the new fundraising landmark came as the teenager revealed he has been able to leave his sickbed for the first time in a week.

Updating his followers on Twitter, Stephen tweeted: ‘First time I’ve moved out of this room in a week. I’ve only been in a wheelchair to the end of the ward and back, but it feels so, so, so good.

Uploading a new ‘thumbs up’ picture of himself to his Facebook page, Stephen added: ‘One week ago I posted a “thumbs up farewell” photo that went viral. As mentioned, at that point I genuinely thought I was a goner, but one week on I’m still here!

‘But with my breathing fine and no other acute medical problems at the moment, we can optimistically look forward to a period of ‘future’ that at the beginning of the week seemed impossible. It still might not be long (fingers crossed it is though) but due to the circumstances, I feel very fortunate to be here, and every second alive feels very special!!’
