Amazon’s new offering from its tech department is the new Fire phone which offers 3D views and lot of other gimmicks.
The Fire phone has 4 front facing “ultra-low power” cameras to track the movement of the users head and render a 3D image by adding depth rather than creating the “pop-out” effect.
The users can also scroll the web page by tilting the phone. It offers gesture controls that we find similar to the Galaxy range of Samsung’s phones and other devices which not many people use. Continue reading
The online shopping company has just reported profits $239 million, or 51 cents per share on revenue of $25.59 billion. However, these results were below expectations and Analysts were expecting Amazon to earn 66 cents a share on $26.06 billion, this fall sent shares down in after hours trading.
For it’s current quarter, Amazon says it expects to bring in net sales between $18.2 and $19.9 billion.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos gave a small preview on this just-reported quarter last month, boasting that it was the ‘’best ever’’ holiday sales period the company’s ever had, including an all-time record for Cyber Monday sales. Continue reading
Amazon is trialling delivery by drones in the US, although the company say that getting Federal Aviation Administration approval means it could be 2015 before the service is offered in earnest.
Many retailers and distributors are looking for new ways to connect with their customers. Ebay have signed deals with a number of local shops, so that buyers will be able to purchase from the auction site and then collect their items from those stores. You could be picking up your cheap Ebay items from Argos, although the deal is only a trial so it may not last forever if Argos finds that it cuts into their own sales volume.

Driven by the success of the Amazon Kindle range of tablets and e-readers, Amazon has allegedly been in talks with HTC to produce a range of smartphones using a forked version of the Android operating system.
HTC may have recently reported its first quarterly loss but they still have some appeal to consumers and to commercial organisations too. Details of the HTC One Max were released early following a press leak for the device and this will be the most recent addition to the popular One flagship series.
