call-of-duty-ghostsCall of Duty: Ghosts continues to perform in the charts, despite underperforming its predecessor by 19%. Meanwhile, Gran Turismo 6, which only entered the charts last week in 8th position, has seen sales decline and is now in 10th spot. Lego Marvel Superheroes made decent gains in order to reach number 3 from last week’s sixth position.

1 (1) – Call Of Duty: Ghosts

Call of Duty: Ghosts is proving to be a virtually unstoppable juggernaut, despite mixed reviews that were especially critical of its lack of originality. Analysts have said that Ghosts has sold 19% fewer copies than Black Ops 2 had by the some point in its lifecycle, but also said that some drop was expected following the release of new consoles. Call Of Duty: Ghosts Still Top As Gran Turismo 6 Flops

call-of-duty-ghostsThere’s an air of recognisability in this week’s charts, as Call of Duty: Ghosts and FIFA 14 retain their first and second place along with Battlefield 4 in third. Gran Turismo 6 has entered the charts at number on its debut, which will prove deeply disappointing for developers.

1 (1) – Call Of Duty: Ghosts

Buy it for the multiplayer and you should find that the scant few new features will appeal, and the short single player campaign will not disappoint too much. Will gamers ever become disenchanted with the series for producing what is basically the same game over and over again? Continue reading

Call Of Duty: Ghosts Back At The Top Thanks To PS4 Release

call-of-duty-ghostsCall of Duty: Ghosts has taken the top of the charts position back from FIFA 14, which slipped into 2nd place this week, following the release of the Sony Playstation 4. Battlefield 4 held its position at number 3 while new entry and PS4 exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall went in at number 4. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag rounds off the top 5.

1 (2) – Call of Duty: Ghosts

Call of Duty: Ghosts was always going to be knocking on the door at the top of the charts, despite offering very little in the way of new features for the franchise. It has a reasonable single player Continue reading

FIFA 14 Takes Top Spot Thanks To Xbox One Release

video gamesThe games chart has changed quite significantly, as expected following the release of the Xbox One. There was a raft of new entries, with the highest debut coming from Xbox One exclusive Forza 5 hitting fifth spot. The new Legend of Zelda entered the charts in 9th position while One exclusive Ryse: Son of Rome spent its first week at number 10. Need for Speed rivals in 13th, and PSP Vita exclusive Tearaway at 26th were the other new entries.

1 (3) – FIFA 14

FIFA 14 is enjoying its second stint in the number one spot, after being included as a digital download with the Xbox One. It looks even better on the next generation console, which is some achievement considering how good it already looked. Beyond that, it’s a FIFA game and no more explanation is really needed. Call Of Duty: Ghosts Keeps Its Top Spot

video gamesCall of Duty: Ghosts has not exactly set the world alight, either in terms of critical reviews or gameplay features. However, it has held on to the top spot for the second week running, fighting off a charge from Lego Marvel Super Heroes. FIFA 14, Assassins Creed IV, and Battlefield 4, round off the top 5, less than a week before the release of the first next generation console.

1 (1) – Call Of Duty: Ghosts

Call Of Duty: Ghosts is, in many respects, disappointing and unsurprising, but it is still a really good quality game. The problem is that it doesn’t do very much that’s new, and it feels like it has been made simply to cash in on the franchise’s strong reputation and history of incredible sales figures. The multiplayer will keep you gunning for an age, as ever, and the single player campaign has some ludicrous moments that detract from the supposed realism of the title. Continue reading

Call Of Duty: Ghosts Unsurprisingly Tops Weekly Game Charts

video gamesIt may have endured some fairly bad reviews for a Call of Duty game, but that hasn’t stopped the latest Ghosts game from hitting the top of the charts. Last week’s top entry, the swashbuckling Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, has been pushed into third with Battlefield 4 retaining its second position. FIFA 14 and Grand Theft Auto V have both dropped a position down to fourth and fifth respectively.

1 (-) – Call Of Duty: Ghosts

Call Of Duty: Ghosts is much of the same for the Call of Duty franchise. If you think that’s a good thing, then you will love Ghosts. If you’re looking for something a bit different, then you should probably move away from first person shooters altogether. There is nothing inherently wrong with Ghosts. It plays well, multiplayer will sap years of your life away, and there are some reasonable additions. However, you will feel like you’ve played it all before. Continue reading
