Two new entries dominate the top two positions this week with The Last Of Us proving to the biggest selling IP (Intellectual Property) game since L.A. Noire and taking the top spot ahead of another new entry Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which has proven to be the biggest non-Mario launch on the 3DS to date. Last week’s number 1 Grid 2 has slipped to third place in light of the barrage of new entries.
1 (-) – The Last Of Us
The Last Of Us is a zombie survival game, but it stands out from what is quickly becoming an overcrowded genre. It is packed full of character and story, and it offers a great variety of ways in which you can approach virtually every situation. Most critics and reviewers have given it the full 10 out of 10 and there are very few genuine complaints that can be levelled at what has become the biggest selling IP title since L.A. Noire and the third fastest selling title of the year. A must play game if ever we saw one.
2 (-) – Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Animal Crossing: New Leaf has already become the biggest non-Mario seller for the 3DS and it too has received extremely positive reviews, averaging a 9 or higher in reviews. Build your Animal Crossing community and prepare to let it take over your real life too. Definitely worth playing if you like town or city building games that have lashings of cute character.
3 (1) – Dirt 2
Dirt 2, the Arcade Simulation Racing crossover has enjoyed two weeks at top spot, and deservedly so. It has acres and acres of gameplay for you to get involved in and if you’re one of the few who have yet to pick up a copy then we suggest you do so.
4 (7) – Tomb Raider
There’s no getting rid of Lara Croft as she rises from 7th last week back into the top 5 at number 4 this week. The grittier version of the puzzle and fighting classics is a superb way to eat up dozens of hours of your life and will hopefully represent a new direction for a franchise that used to be one of our favourites.
5 (2) – FIFA 13
FIFA 13 may, finally, be on the way out of the charts but don’t hold your breath just yet. The end of the season is a couple of weeks behind us and new managers have been announced. A few more marquee signings by major clubs, though, and FIFA 13 may well find its way back up the charts. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
