Four new entries including Dead Island:Riptide have made their way into the video games chart while previous number 1 Injustice: Gods Among Us has slipped one place to second.
1 (-) Dead Island: Riptide
Riptide has garnered mixed reviews from the press and players. Its open world nature remained popular but the lack of any differences from the first game led critics to dub it an expansion pack at full price.
2 (1) Injustice: Gods Among Us
Injustice: Gods Among Us, on the other hand, has been received with mostly positive reviews. It has proven popular because it offers a combination of classic fight games like Tekken and Mortal Kombat, mixes this with an array of superheroes and villans, and throws in some unique twists on the fighting genre.
3 (-) Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen
Dragon’s Dogma was released last year and surprised gamers with its open world RPG action crossover. Dark Arisen contains the whole of the original game, some improvements and tweaks, and around 15 hours of additional gaming content. The additional content is very difficult but Bitterblack Isle will draw you in with its potential rewards.
4 (-) Star Trek
Occasional good looking graphics and effects do not mask the fact that this game has received really poor reviews. Overall, the graphics are poor and the gameplay, according to critics, smacks of cashing in.
5 (4) Tomb Raider
Protagonist Lara Croft is back and, as is the modern trend, she’s younger and grittier than the version we’ve got used to. Multiplayer is a bit pointless but flexible combat, great controls, and a varied game world mean that while Tomb Raider has slipped a place, it remains in the charts for an eighth week.
