Dead Island: Riptide may have endured some fairly scathing reviews, especially concerned with its lack of originality when compared to the original Dead Island release but that hasn’t stopped it from topping the video game charts for the second week running. With only one new entry in the top 40 it was Dead Island that took top honours ahead of the superhero action fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us.
1 (1) – Dead Island: Riptide
Reviewers were seemingly not keen on the second instalment of the Dead Island franchise,
claiming that it was too much of a poor expansion compared to a full new game. However, that hasn’t deterred gamers from buying it and the survival horror that pits players against hordes of undead on a tropical island keeps its number one spot for a second week.
2 (2) Injustice: Gods Among Us
Gods Among Us is a fairly unique crossover between round based action fighting games (a la Tekken and Mortal Kombat) and a superhero game. Players have the opportunity to fight as the likes of Batman and Catwoman with an array of unique moves for each. Injustice remains in 2nd place.
3 (5) Tomb Raider
Lara Croft won’t go down without a fight as Tomb Raider is back up two positions to fifth spot. The game has proven popular not only with lovers of the original franchise but with a new crowd of gamers too.
4 (7) FIFA 13
Fever pitch is kicking in as the end of the season approaches and FIFA 13 is benefiting from this as it climbs from number 7 to number 4 in this week’s charts. The game offers players the chance to pit their wits against the world’s finest football teams in a huge variety of competitions and game modes.
Dark Arisen is an expansion of the original Dragon’s Dogma game although it also includes the original game. Unfortunately, this means that the price may be putting those off that already have the original but it is still proving popular with new players. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen dropped two places to fifth.
